You probably did not delete the folder permanently. The only way to do that is via Terminal. If this is the case, you can create a folder and name it Downloads and then restart your Mac.

Mac Show Download Folder In Dock

Can someone tell me what I did and how I lost my Downloads folder from my Dock? It used to always sit there and fanned out beautifully when I hit it.
I can locate the folder by downloading something, but i don't know how then to stick it back in Dock so it stays there, nor how to ensure that it fans out when I click on it.
Thanks for your expert help.
